Pilates gives you an upright, natural posture that is clearly reflected in everyday life, in sport and at work.”
A success story
My orthopaedic surgeon recommended Pilates individual training with Mrs. Heininger. My problems were a lack of strength in the legs, unstable walking, and shorted tendons in the arms and legs. At first I was sceptical as to whether I would be able to improve my physical constitution at the age of 81. My aim was to be able once more to enjoy my passion of playing golf without being impeded at all, so I took a trial lesson. After the very first Pilates lesson, I noticed a considerable improvement in my feeling of physical wellbeing.
For a year now, I have been training once a week with Mrs. Heininger and do my personal mat exercises every day for 20 minutes. Thanks to Pilates training, I can once more play 18-hole golf. My problems have gone; I am becoming increasingly mobile and my posture muscles have straightened up my back, whereas before I was hunched.
Mrs. Heininger told me during the first class that Pilates had no age limits and that the muscles can be built back up at any age. My confidence has improved. I am now happy to know that it is incorrect movement not our age that sets our limitations.
“You are as young as the mobility of your spine.” J. Pilates (1880-1967).
