Frequently asked questions

All about your training

  • The Private Pilates Studio offers classic pilates private, duet sessions and reformer group classes on the original pilates studio equipment and mat only for women older than 18 years.

I hold the Peak Pilates 'Comprehensive Certificate'. This includes the complete training systems Level I, II, III, on all studio equipment, the complete mat training with III levels, all chairs and all barrels. All trainers in my private pilates studio are professionally and holistically trained and have learned the private pilates method from me personally.

  • Yes, Private Pilates welcomes all women older than 18 years to the studio.

  • First, you book a trial session. I charge 119,00 € for the trial session. If you like it and buy a package of 5 or 10 sessions after the trial session, the trial session is free. All the packages can be purchased on site in my studio and paid for in cash, by bank transfer or debit card. In general, the appointments take place in a weekly cycle.

  • It's best to bring your training partner. The duet is suitable for 2 people each between the ages of 18 and 70. Before you start the duet, we recommend an individual trial session. Please note that a similar fitness level is an advantage as you will be training in synchronicity. After the trial lesson we can decide together whether the duet is an option for you. If you still decide to do a duet, we will offset the amount of the trial session against the package purchased. All the packages can be purchased on site in my studio and paid in cash, by bank transfer or debit card or directly online via PayPal.

  • The pilates session at the Private Pilates Studio lasts 55-60 minutes.

Please be on time for your session so that you can get as much out of it as possible. Before and after the training sessions we have planned a time buffer of half an hour before the next session. This gives you and the next client enough time to arrive, change clothes or discuss rescheduling.

  • You can find my prices here.

  • Training sessions must be cancelled 24 hours in advance, otherwise we will charge the full price. Training sessions must be cancelled in writing by email or online via the link in your booking confirmation. Please remember that we can only give each lesson once and if we are blocked, we cannot offer the lesson to another client. Therefore, please only cancel appointments at short notice in an extreme emergency. As far as Ice are available, appointments can be rearranged and rescheduled prior to the training day.

  • Training lessons must be cancelled 24 hours in advance, otherwise we will charge the full price. Appointments can only be cancelled in writing by email or online via the link in your booking confirmation.

  • All the packages can be purchased on site in my studio and paid for in cash, by bank transfer or debit card or directly via my website and paid via PayPal. If you like we will issue you a voucher with a unique code so that you can easily book your appointments online on my website. Please keep this voucher in a safe place as you will need it for every booking. Of course you can also use this voucher as a gift.

  • Purchased packages can be given away as a gift in advance, but cannot be transferred once they have been started.

Packages of 5 are valid for 3 months from the date of invoice. Packages of 10 are valid for 6 months from the date of invoice.

We accept a medical certificate if someone can no longer attend training for certain reasons. We are fair and reimburse the packages. We expect the same fairness towards ourselves Package holders who decide to stop training should please let me know immediately so that our calendars can be opened for new clients.

  • Clothes that fit close to the body are best, as we can correct the posture better. You should avoid using zips and large jewellery as this can damage the leather upholstery of the equipment. For hygienic reasons you should wear socks when exercising. We offer special 'Pilates socks' for purchase in the studio.

Pilates in general

  • Yes, not all pilates types are alike. After J. Pilates' death, different styles have developed. Some have moved very far away from the original method and offer a modified 'fitness training' using the Pilates equipment. Often with this style, the exercises are accompanied by background music. Although this offer is called Pilates, it has nothing to do with the classical training method according to J. Pilates.

  • The classical Pilates method strictly adheres to the traditional principles of J. Pilates' original exercises. The classical Pilates method follows a 'red thread' of exercises that build on each other on the real Pilates studio equipment and the mat. The class is always based on the training level of the participant. Instruction is always individual. All movements start from the centre of the body (the so-called powerhouse) and then continue to the extremities. With the body's own resistance and full-body tension, the participant then experiences working against a spring resistance. Concentration and coordination and correct breathing are trained. Only through flowing controlled movements can the participant develop a deep understanding of their body. Classical Pilates training demands everything from the participant. It is never taught with background music.

  • A classically trained Pilates trainer has completed at least 600 hours of certified training over a period of 1-3 years at a renowned training institute. During this time, the trainer has learned how to use the most important Pilates studio equipment and mat exercises. After those 600 hours and the basic certificate, he or she must complete at least 16 hours of further training every year on the Pilates small equipment, anatomy and the advanced exercises. A Pilates trainer in education has only trained for 3 years. You can only be called a Pilates senior trainer after 5-10 years of teaching Pilates. Unfortunately, the professional title of Pilates trainer is not protected and anyone can call themselves a Pilates trainer. It is up to you to check to whom you entrust your body!

Pilates during/after pregnancy and with constraints

  • Yes. Pilates training is even beneficial during pregnancy, as it helps to strengthen the back and the deep-seated abdominal and pelvic floor muscles. A trained pelvic floor provides support for carrying the baby and prevents sciatica, which can often occur in the 2nd to 3rd trimester of pregnancy. We have accompanied many clients through various pregnancies.

  • Pilates training is also very well suited as a postnatal rehabilitation training. In consultation with your gynecologist, you can start intensive training 6-12 weeks after giving birth. In case of complications or after a caesarean section, you should wait 12-16 weeks before starting intensive pelvic floor training again. Gentle pelvic floor exercises and exercises that stimulate the lateral abdominal muscles can be done shortly after birth. As long as you are breastfeeding, you should avoid overstretching as the ligaments are still lax. I am a mother of two children myself and have been able to successfully support many of my clients during and after births over the past years.

  • Yes, I have completed various additional trainings and can still teach the classic Pilates exercises with various modifications for the different injuries and limitations. Even in a duet, we can address individual limitations and make adjustments to the exercises. Before you start training, we still recommend that you get permission from your specialist doctor. Only the doctor is allowed to give a diagnosis and permission.

We look forward to train with you!
